Carotid and Vertebral Dissections
Description
Carotid and vertebral dissections account for roughly 2% of ischemic strokes; however, when considering patients younger than 45 years, dissections are the etiology of up to 20% of all ischemic strokes. It is critical for any clinician caring for stroke patients to understand the diagnosis and management of carotid and vertebral dissection.
After the completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Explain the mechanism of stroke due to carotid and vertebral dissection
- Describe the diagnosis and management of carotid and vertebral dissections in the acute care setting
- Discuss the approach to post-acute management of dissections
